The Beauty of Majestic Mountains
Day 1: Dushabe - Hissor - Dushanbe
You will be met by our driver in the airport and then head on to Dushanbe. You are going to transfer today to visit Hissor fortress 35 km. In the XIII century, it was the center of part of the Emirate of Bukhara, which was ruled by Bek. The fortress was the residence of the ruler. The walls surrounding the residence, one meter thick with loopholes, inspired respect and strength of the fortress. Inside was a Palace, a garden, a swimming pool. The staircase in the form of terraces leading to the gate and the monumental towers were lined with burnt bricks, the composition of which remains a secret even now. Next to the fortress, opposite it, there was a market square with shopping rows and a caravanserai, which was restored according to the preserved drawings. There are also interesting sights: "Madrasa I Kuhna" (new school of 16th-17th centuries), mosque; the mausoleum of "Mahdumi Azam" (16th century). Then you will drive to Dushanbe. There you will explore Botanical garden and Victory Park. Night will be spend in hotel.
Day 2: Dushanbe - Norak - Kalai Khum
Destination of the day is Kalai Khum village, small village on the River Pyanj. Today you will see Norak water reservoir that is called Tajik Sea. The Norak hydroelectric power station is the most powerful hydroelectric power station in Central Asia, whose dam is listed in the Guinness book of Records as the highest embankment dam in the world. You will drive Shuraba pass (2 267 m) today and then starts drive along Afghanistan border. You will be amazed by unique mountains, magnificent views, mesmerizing landscapes. The Pamirs always allured the world's greatest explorers - Marco Polo, Hsuan Tsang, Mirza Muhammad Haidar. En route you will move along natural border - Pyanj River. The greatest, mysterious, lost in the wilds of Asia - the Pamir Mountains have always stirred minds. The sharp peaks seemed unattainable, the deep rocky gorges unapproachable. You will spend the night in a home stay and have a chance to observe the way of local people's life.
Day 3: Kalai Khum - Rushan
This day you will drive to Rushan. 10 km from Kalai - Khum you will transfer up to ancient fortress. The fortress has more than a thousand years of history. It was the seat of local government. It was constructed in 3 century and in 2013 got renovation. Then will keep transfer to Rushan. En route you observe a lot of afghan settlements and dangerous path on the rocks from left side of Panj river. It is considered that Rushan was the first village where pamirian start to live. Night will be in the homestay.
Day 4: Rushan - Bartang Valley - Trek to Jizew
This day you will transfer to Bartang valley. The Bartang Valley is one of the wildest and most memorable valleys in the western Pamirs. The Bartang valley is notable for its many unique, natural, cultural, archaeological and ethnographic attractions, as well as for its wild nature and incredible landscapes. The Pamir people themselves assume that the Bartang valley is most likely the most prototypical region of their motherland. Life, culture and music have been preserved in Bartang. Today you will trek to Jizew valley to immerse into the life of the mountains. In the morning you will go on hiking in the main valley and then come back to home stay. Night will be in the home stay.
Day 5: Jizew - Rushan - Khorog
Early in morning you will drive organize visas for Afghanistan in Khorog. It is the main city of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous region. It is located at an altitude of more than 2200 m above sea level at the confluence of the high-altitude rivers Panj and Gunt, Khorog. En route to Khorog you will get acquainted with way of life of Pamir people. The Pamir people are spread over the territory of the Western, Southern, and Eastern Pamirs. Some People who live in the Pamirs have similar culture and traditions. However, researchers were able to prove that these peoples belong to several ancient Eastern Iranian communities that fell on the Pamir separately from each other. The Pamir is one of the world's highest mountain systems, located in southern Central Asia. Overnight at the local guesthouse.
Day 6: Khorog
The tour is devoted to a guided city tour. The first destination will be Botanical Garden. The Botanical Garden beckons unbridled almost wild, living nature. The city is rich with many gardens. It was founded in 1940 to test the survival of various plants in a mountainous climate. According to official data, more than 30,000 plant varieties were tried to be grafted here, and as a result, the garden's collection today includes about 4,000 plant species. The Pamir Botanical garden is situated near Khorog, and offers mesmerizing panoramic views of the entire city. After you will explore park and handicraft shop, museum. To immerse into traditions and feel life of this territory you should visit local bazar.
Day 7: Khorog - Kalai Khum
Today you will travel from Khorog to Kalai Khum is the same road as you had before. There are high rocky mountains over 6 000 meters. On this territory was possible only 1 road to be built. You will marvel the majestic mountains, fabulous landscapes, fresh air, as well as learn more facts about residents of this amazing region. During the tour you will have a chance to get acquainted with traditions of local people and feel their way of life. There are villages which are situated on both sides of the river in narrow mountain valleys. You will also observe in the tour on the other side of the river Afgan stony villages and gardens. Night will spend in a homestay.
Day 8: Kalai Khum - Khoburubot - Dushanbe
Today you will head on to Dushanbe via mountain road. During the tour you will pass over high Khoburubot Pass (3 252) that is known as Western Pamir Tract. You are going to transfer over stunning river valley and mesmerizing gorges. On the way you will have an opportunity to take a photo and admire the view. Today you will also see small settlements and get acquiante with local culture. Tajikistan is a very interesting and colorful country, located far from popular tourist routes. Located on the territory of Central Asia and once part of the Soviet Union, the country has its own interesting and interesting features. Overnight will be at the hotel.
Day 9: Flight
In the morning is transfer to airport.
